Early Childhood

Nursery & Pre-Kindergarten Program

Our early childhood center provides a caring educational environment in which children develop socially, intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Holy Name of Mary Nursery and Pre-K programs are based on the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s Early Childhood curriculum, which incorporates New York State Common Core Learning Standards.  The curriculum includes open-ended activities that focus on the process as well as the end product.  Children are immersed in literature and activities for pre-reading and writing.  They are given everyday opportunities to learn math concepts, such as shape, size weight and numbers.  Our Early Childhood program also incorporates religion, art, cooking, music, physical education and technology.

The Early Childhood program includes both full-day and half day nursery classes for three year olds.  Before school and After-care is also offered.  Our nursery and pre-K classrooms are invigorating and lively, while being warm and nurturing.  These settings provide the ideal place for each child to grow and to reach their fullest potential.

Our nursery program for three year olds offers the option of a half or a full day sessions.  The hours are 9:00AM – 12:30PM or 9:00AM to 2:30 PM. A full-time assistant, as well as a State certified teacher provides a fine quality of education for every student.  All children must be toilet trained prior to entering the nursery program and must be three by December 1, 2017 for the half-day program and three by September 1, 2017 for the full-day program.  Before-school and after-care is available to all nursery full-day students.

Our pre-K has a full-time assistant, as well as a New York State certified teacher.  All children must be four by December 1, 2017.  Our pre-K program is full-day, 9:00 AM – 2:30 PM.  Before and after care is available for all pre-K students. Students attend Art, Music, Library, and Physical Education classes.
