Welcome to the Holy Name of Mary Website! Holy Name of Mary Catholic School offers an outstanding education for students from Nursery - 8th grade. Our students reside in Valley Stream and the surrounding areas including Elmont, Malverne, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, Laurelton, Hempstead, Freeport, and Woodmere. The education at Holy Name of Mary, including curriculum, technology, extracurricular activities and faith experiences, is especially tailored to meet the educational, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of our students enrolled in our early childhood, elementary, and middle school programs. Our goal is to create a faith-filled learning environment where students are able to excel both in and out of the classroom, during their time here as students and beyond.

Dear Holy Name of Mary Friends and Families,
During the month of February, our second grade students received First Reconciliation. Please keep them in your prayers as they prepare for First Eucharist. February 17 was Ash Wednesday and marked the beginning of Lent. The days of Lent allow us the time to prepare to celebrate Easter. The rites and observances of Lent invite us to strengthen our relationship with Jesus Christ and to experience his journey to the cross, and ultimately, our salvation. Through the cross of Christ, new life was given to the world.
Here at Holy Name of Mary School, we undertake this journey through the works of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Every student was given a cross with a classmates name on it. The students are invited to pray for that classmate during throughout the season of Lent. The children are encouraged to fast from something to help them remember what Jesus gave up for all of us. Almsgiving is encouraged through the student “rice bowl” collection for the missions around the world. These Lenten works foster discipleship and ultimately lead to new life and help us prepare our hearts for the greatest celebration of the liturgical year, Easter!
