On the lookout for writing journals and the latest graphic novels, 8th graders explored the PTL's Scholastic Book Fair. In addition to participating in the fair's annual lollipop lottery game, students purchased many YA books, including Shannon Hale's BEST FRIENDS and Jen Calonita's TURN IT UP!. As an extra challenge, Ms. Brown kept students on their toes by testing their ability to identify and interpret the puns on some of the picture books and bookmarks for sale.  



Two 8th graders spotted a picture book with a pun! Since the title is a play on similar-sounding words, the author changed "WHODUNIT," to "POODUNIT"for a few laughs and to hint at its mystery genre.
