As they watched the Flintstone's version of
A Christmas Carol, 8th grade enjoyed cupcakes and chocolate milk while opening pun-adorned gift bags and presents in Grinch wrapping paper. Most of the gifts from Ms. Brown were to enrich the 8th grade classroom, like graphic novels and a 2020 "Puns Away" calendar. Staying true to Ms. Brown's famous classroom colors - purple and blue - students received new, color-coordinated footballs and volleyballs for outdoor recess....and to practice their spiking and serving skills in anticipation of the annual 8th grade v. faculty volleyball game during Catholic Schools' Week.
However, as a "dodgeball card game," Throw Throw Burrito was Ms. Brown's main Christmas gift to the 8th grade. Catering to the 8th grade's interest in hot potato and tossing around sports equipment during indoor recess, Throw Throw Burrito hopes to bring a more indoor-friendly alternative to the class. Students also received Connect 4 games from the PTL's Santa.
As one gift bag exclaimed, "Avo Merry Christmas!"
Before the classroom festivities, 8th graders piled onto the gymnasium's stage to lead the school in its annual Christmas Carol Sing-a-Long after morning assembly. With Santa hats and lyric sheets, 8th graders sang loudest during holiday classics, like "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer."
Presents awaited the 8th graders when they went upstairs to their homeroom class!
Several 8th graders accompanied the PTL's Santa around the school to help carry and drop off class gifts! For the 8th grade, Santa dropped off two Connect 4 games, each in
Frozen 2 wrapping paper!
Students had fun opening presents!
