To raise money for their graduation and field trip expenses, 8th graders rallied together at A.J. Hendrickson Park from 9:30 AM - 1:30 PM for some soapy fun and hard work. With groups of students scrubbing, rinsing, and drying the constant flow of cars, the car wash was a great team-building fundraiser! Tickets were $5.00 each, but many customers gave a little extra as a donation. Overall, the 8th grade raised $2,200! The school community was extremely present at the event. Between the alum/sibling volunteers and HNOM families and faculty members who brought their cars, the car wash maintained a bustling, friendly atmosphere all day!
8th graders were especially excited about the support of several HNOM teachers and administrators who attended and brought their cars to be washed. Thank you for your support, Mrs. Powell, Miss Hahl, Mrs. O'Connor, and Mrs. Sanders!
It was also great to see other familiar faces at the event! HNOM alum Dominik Kurek (Class of 2019) volunteered all day, as well as several sibling helpers from HNOM's current 5th grade class. Mrs. Kurek, HNOM alum David Camulaire, and Mrs. Bascom (along with her son, a current 7th grader at HNOM) brought their cars to contribute to the fundraiser!
With a hands-on approach that showed no fear of getting wet, 8th grade parent leaders kept the car line moving and mastered the rinsing process! Thank you, Ms. Im, for organizing and running the event! Mrs. Jesuca, Mrs. Fernando, Mrs. Bhojwani, Ms. Ulysse, Mr. & Mrs. Sinclair, Mrs. Stoney, and Ms. Persaud were phenomenal parent volunteers!
To help students start the day energized, Dunkin' Donuts, bagels, and hot chocolate greeted 8th graders as they arrived. Mrs. Fernando - an 8th grade parent who dedicated her Saturday to the event - treated the hardworking students to a pizza lunch just as the chilly, grey skies transformed into a warmer blue!
With diligence and precision on pesky saltwater tires and dirt-splattered paint, 8th graders committed to getting each car squeaky clean. Great job, 8th grade!
