For their first field trip of the 2019-2020 academic year, 8th graders attended Adventureland's annual Technology Day. To understand the physical science behind amusement park rides, students sketched the mechanisms powering the Pirate Ship, observed the sturdy triangle structure of the Turbulence, and tested the front and back carts on the Rattlesnake to reflect on acceleration and its effect on their roller coaster experience.
Hypothesizing, observing, and analyzing their way through the park, the 8th grade enjoyed thrills, spins, and drops on
many rides. While some braved the Frisbee and Turbulence coaster multiple times, others chose calmer options, like the Bumper Cars, Wave Swing, and Saf-T-Swim's Rescue Boats.
