Since candy canes have expanded beyond the traditional peppermint, 8th Grade rose to the challenge of finding unique flavors for a "Candy Cane Swap." From Smarties and Swedish Fish to Kool Aid and Lemon Head varieties, 8th graders brought in candy canes that would appeal to tart, sour, and sweet taste preferences. Friendly competitions emerged from the spicy cinnamon Hot Tamales candy canes and the sour sugar attached to the Baby Bottle Pop candy canes. Each 8th grader left with a plastic Santa cup filled with 15+ candy canes - enough to share with family!

Students recorded the flavor, color, and brand of the candy canes they brought to create their own key to match up with their individual cups!
